The students will utilize this class set of The B.F.G. (The Big Friendly Giant) to strengthen their fluency and comprehension skills. Putting a copy of the book in each student's hands gives them the ability to reread for clarity, search the text for answers, and the ability to read at their own pace. As a class we will do a novel study to strengthen our reading skills. Reading is my class's passion. We will analyze this novel individually, in groups, and on a whole class level. Our literary analysis will be, but not limited to, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, author's point of view, main idea, and theme. Students will then use the text to strengthen their writing and interpersonal skills. We will be learning to discuss a text while referring to what we have read. I know my kids will love this experience and will appreciate the opportunity.
