I chose the Wobble chair in order to support my students who have a difficult time with focus and need to move around during class. My classroom is in a small portable and at times the workspace is too small for my 6th-grade students to get up and move around the classroom. I enjoy working with them in reading groups but have a difficult time getting them into small groups. This limits my daily reading activities and what my students are able to do in my classroom. Literacy is a fundamental skill and needs to be taught in a variety of ways in order to ensure all skills are being learned.
I'm interested in replacing a traditional chair with a Wobble chair because I want to see the difference it would make in my classroom setting. Ordinary chairs force our students into static positions and can be very uncomfortable. I want my students to be able to work cooperatively and enjoy the full range of motion that the Wobble chair would give them. In my classroom, the arrangement will help my students perform at their best and give them enough space to get up and move around the classroom as needed.
