My students need access to a variety of books. I have students reading on different levels. Providing multiple opportunities to read will improve their comprehension in reading and strengthen understandings in math. Can we read? Is a common question they ask in math class. Creating a class library for math gives students a choice during independent learning. Allowing students to participate in their own learning activity increases their desire to learn. Stories about math reinforces concepts taught in class. Books in the math class gives the message that reading is important! My students can also learn how to create their own stories about math.
