Based on the data we've collected from last year's SAT and this fall's PSAT, we know that our students need practice reading nonfiction, especially articles that relate to history, social sciences, and sciences. By exposing students to more relevant and interesting nonfiction, we can increase their critical reading abilities. The New York Times Upfront magazine contains articles that will hold student interest, engage them in current issues and will help encourage classroom discuss and debates. It is important to introduce students to these materials because they will soon enter a world dominated by social media. It will be important for them to know the difference between real and fake news.
