This project is geared towards my students having choice in the classroom by way of flexible seating. In flexible seating, students choose where they would like to learn for the day. When giving students this power, they are more likely to pay attention in class and to take ownership of their learning. My selections include items like a stand up desk for kids to stretch their legs, yoga balls to bounce on, and bean bags to allow for comfortable floor seating for my students. Flexible seating also helps the room feel more like home which is so important when working in an urban setting. I enjoy creating a safe, home-like environment for my students to feel as comfortable as possible as we diligently work on our mathematical skills.
