I teach computer science to 9-12 grade students at San Fernando High School. My students are predominantly Latino and come from the surrounding neighborhood, which is a low socio-economic area. Since I began teaching computer science classes a couple years ago, demand is through the roof! Students are excited to get a chance to learn about how the Internet works, how to make sense of their world through analyzing Big Data, and how to learn JavaScript coding to make their own smartphone apps. I am working hard to ensure the face of computer science includes a diverse mix of students.
