My students attend Coleridge-Taylor Montessori & Bowen elementary schools in the Jefferson County Public Schools district in Louisville, Kentucky. As a social worker, Family Resource Center Coordinator, athletics coach, and club sponsor, I work with students and their families to reduce and eliminate non-academic barriers to learning (lack of food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, etc.) to help students learn and perform in the classroom. In short, I try do whatever it takes to make sure our students arrive at school happy, healthy, and excited to learn. Sometimes this work means helping a parent navigate networks of charities/social services, or spending a weekend gathering donations of food/furniture for a family in-need, or taking a group of students on a college experience field trip to a local university. Always, it means I get to work with incredible kids, and their parents who want the very best for them.
