The use of hearing aids/cochlear implants is a daily activity for our students. Each day students come to school expected to learn just like every other student however, listening and hearing are two different senses. Some of our students have trouble with self-esteem issues when wearing their aids, while others struggle with finding the right batteries in order to wear their aids. What becomes a problem is the fact that many students either don't bring batteries to school with them or parents think the school supplies them and then we are stuck with no replacement batteries. Students know that they should let someone know when their hearing aid battery dies so they can hear again! However, without extra batteries students can go sometimes a whole day without hearing. Imagine going through your day missing information or not hearing at all.. it becomes frustrating, to say the least! By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student learning, you will ultimately help to increase their hearing each day. Students will be able to go throughout their day hearing the necessary instruction, being able to talk to their peers, and just overall have a better, more successful day. Plus with these batteries, students will have the ability to be able to continue to learn self-advocacy skills!
