My classroom is comprised of students with varying disabilities, with Autism being the most represented. They come from low-income families and several are English Language Learners. Our district has faced many administrative changes over the past several years and is currently going through restructuring by the state. When I came to this classroom several months ago, there was, and still is, a severe lack of appropriate materials to meet the needs of the students, especially their needs related to their Autism diagnosis. Several students have behavior intervention plans to address behaviors that are directly related to the fact that their sensory needs are not adequately being met. This is our greatest need.
