My students attend our large public elementary school. They are from different cultures and backgrounds. The younger students enjoy listening to stories and helping their classmates. The older students enjoy being "buddies" to the younger students. Our school promotes student academic achievement by empowering teachers with the necessary academic elements for success. However we need to update our science activities. Last year, my class studied the rain forest. One of our staff people saw a display of our animal project. She then arranged for guest speakers to share their experiences about the rain forest. The students enjoyed asking question and taking notes about the rain forest.
