The typical student in my class struggles with basic phonemic awareness and number sense. Computers in my classroom are a great support to our curriculum, yet many of our desktop computers don’t work. My school is looking to update our extremely outdated, irreparable, and very old technology. The Milwaukee Public Schools district has implemented programs to assist children with computer based interventions. Our goal is to give all children access to these programs to provide much needed support and progress monitoring. This is why I would like to provide new technology to help my students succeed. It is important to incorporate technology into our curriculum to supplement our curriculum. Adding these requested HP Chromebooks to my classroom will give more students the opportunities to work on phonic and basic math skills to help them work on closing the achievement gap with their non-disabled peers. Students with disabilities already have a disadvantage; access to technology shouldn't be part of that.
