We will use the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio to teach important life lessons. Most importantly, accepting people for who they are, instead of how they look, can make life so much better for everyone. It is important to show students how to put yourself in another person's shoes and imagine. Along with the important themes that Wonder offers, we will use the book for character building activities and looking at all areas of plot. This book is a must have because it lends itself to the classroom in so many ways. The students will be reading a book that teaches empathy and this will hopefully go with them when they exit the classroom and are in the hallways, the bus, the lunchroom and the community.
