I look forward to growing my classroom library with books that talk about cultural diversity and acceptance. Many of my students have had very little exposure to different cultures and ethinc groups other than their own. I would like to educate my students through reading and dialog. "The highest result of education is tolerance." ~Helen Keller~ I would also like to incorporate multicultural puppets and music. Using puppets puts children at ease with new and unfamiliar cultures. Puppets are a non threatening tool that allows students to come in contact with situations that are unfamiliar to them without feeling pressure. With the puppet theatre my students can engage in dramatic play with the multicultural characters. The instrum is a wonderful tool to teach my students an appreciation and love of music around the world. Please help me bring cultural diversity and a tolerance for others to my rural classroom! Thank you!
