My current students have experienced a full year of flexible seating. With the wide range of abilities, trauma, and social/emotional needs within my classroom, giving students the self-advocacy of choosing a place that they are comfortable will help students to feel valued which will in return, help them focus and learn! Flexible seating such as the ball seats benefits students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, students dealing with trauma, and so many more. Some students prefer to sit on the floor instead of a desk and would benefit from the floor lap desks. Others need more comfort and warmth throughout the day so those students would use the saucer chairs. I would love to be able to provide more opportunities for my students so that they are able to feel valued and important in their classroom.
