I'm currently an Elementary General and Special Education ENL/ESL Teacher in Long Island, New York. Most of my students have just entered the country for the first time, and speak very little English. Teaching during a pandemic faces many challenges for teachers, students, and their parents. Teaching general and special education English language learners in a hybrid and full remote setting has been my greatest challenge as an educator. Students behind a screen struggle to see the Smartboard screen in school, and those in class struggle to see the Smartboard because there's always a device in front to live stream. In addition to providing instruction while live streaming, I also have to assist parents with navigating through different forms of technology. This document camera will allow me to provide reading and writing instruction for all my students, whether they are in school or behind a screen.
