Each Friday, students are asked to present on material covered over the course of the week as a way to cement the learning. Students learn better when they teach others and part of project- based learning requires an audience outside of the classroom. As a way to fulfill this standard, students can record the learning and share with others to supplement teacher instruction. Currently, students are using their own personal devices to record the videos. They often complain of limited data on their cell phones which makes it difficult for students to complete the work in a given period. The challenge also comes when they are asked to then forward their video presentations to the teacher. We need a GoPro action camera and a microphone system to be able to present and record their work in class to support and reinforce their acquisition of the English Language. Due to the size of the presentation length, some groups are unable to share their information. For example in our last classroom debate, a student filmed the entire debate; however, he had to cut the video into eight chunks just to send it to me. This takes up needless time, which could be better spent on critical thinking tasks. We record green screen presentations on informational readings. Students will need to record their poetry presentations on each of the literary movements during that specific unit. Kids truly become engaged when they have an opportunity to record their works and share it. We convert these video recordings into a QR code for a larger audience beyond the classroom to view at anytime to see first hand of the learning that takes place in a flipped classroom. At Your generous donation will transform the delivery of their presentations. The microphone will encourage the more reluctant students to present with confidence. At this level, students often struggle projecting their voices across the room. We truly want each of our students to find their own voices!
