Our school is a very unique and diverse place. 80% of our students qualify for free lunch and many of our families are living on very little income, if any. Some of our kindergarten students come to school having never been read to and many students start the first day of school with no materials. Due to some of these circumstances, many of our students are underperforming and struggle with social/emotional frustrations. The staff at our school works tirelessly not only to look past these struggles, but to also help each and every student in the best way possible. We provide breakfast and a healthy snack each day along with sending bags of food home with some students on Fridays to get their family through to Monday. Academically, teachers are constantly looking at student work (data), differentiating instruction, forming intervention groups and having ongoing conversations on how we can best serve our students.
