Technology is all around us, especially at our school. We went from only having one Chromebook cart in the entire school last year, to having five Chromebook carts in our building this year. Each cart consists of 30 Chromebooks. We are able to quickly and easily pull a cart into our classroom and integrate technology into our activities and lessons. This is such a great way to get the kids excited to learn, until they have to drag and maneuver the computer with only the touchpad. Frustrations begin and excitement can sometimes fade quickly. Life online would be so much easier for our kids if they had computer mice to use. Just this week, we began working on creating Google slideshows online, but adding text boxes, moving pictures, and highlighting words to change the font became such a struggle without a computer mouse that we had to take a break and try something else. These kids want to be academically challenged and really look forward to using the computers. However, something that could easily be done online with a computer mouse takes two or three times longer to explain or learn to do with only the computer touchpad. Please help us push our kids to create amazing work online with the help of computer mice.
