I want to make my students' time on the computer less difficult by having them use touch screens. Young students have difficulty controlling a mouse on a desktop computer. Chromebooks are lightweight, portable and are easier for them to use. Using Chromebooks will make my students more productive and successful in their learning. Having extra computer stations will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom. I could readily differentiate their learning using specific interventions and apps that are geared toward each student's ability. Also students will have extra practice opportunities on computer programs that we currently use such as LexiaCore5 Reading and XtraMath. My project will make a difference because these students in Kdg, 1st, & 2nd will be able to use the computers more effectively and efficiently because of the touch screens and the availability of the computers. Chromebooks will give the students more learning opportunities in the classroom. Students can complete different types of projects together using Chromebooks. For example, students will be able to look up as well as take pictures and place them into a book that they create. Students will also be able to take pictures with their Chromebook and share them with others by making a PowerPoint presentation. They will also have opportunities to share presentations with other students through the cloud or with their own family with ClassDojo. I will also be able to download apps on the Chromebooks for various reading and math practice skills for my learning centers in the classroom. This will allow me to have activities for both my highest performing and most struggling students. Thank you in advance for supporting and believing in our students!!!
