Most of my students are embarking on their high school careers at a significant disadvantage: they are well below grade level in reading and writing. In addition, as a fact of growing up in one of NYC's most impoverished (and violent) neighborhoods, they face innumerable systemic and entrenched barriers to success. Through a loving and nurturing classroom environment and a belief that every student will succeed, I strive to meet all learners where they are at and to instill in them a drive to formulate and realize their own personal vision for the future. At Bronx Letters, we celebrate hard work, curiosity, self-expression, and service. Our graduates are equity minded, highly articulate, critical readers and writers, fully prepared to tackle the opportunities they'll meet in college and their careers.

About my class
