Using technology, like iPads, to learn basic coding can drastically open the job market for these high school students. We will be using the tablets to do coding for the Sphero SPRK+ robots in our physics classroom. The students can measure velocity and acceleration, learn about vectors and vector math, program the robot to increase or decrease friction by going on different surfaces, and so much more. The applications are endless, but it all begins with learning how to write the programming code for the robots to do all of these fascinating accomplishments. With giving the students the resource of learning how to do coding in high school, it gives them a resource that could drive their lives out of poverty. Some coding opportunities look more for experience in different platforms rather than levels of degrees which would give the students a job with a livable wage to support their families.
