Todays learning environment is challenging enough for students, add in sitting in hard seats all day, and you have a rough time getting through the curriculum. Flexible seating options can increase oxygen flow to the brain and depending on the seat offers an opportunity to engage core strength. This can lead to increased blood flow and metabolism. It also helps keep young minds more alert and focused. Children have a hard time sitting in one spot or still, classroom environments should provide the student the best opportunity to learn while minimizing distractions to other students. I plan to let students pick the seat that works best for them. No longer will they be tied down to one desk and chair. I want them to take ownership of their learning, and giving them the choice to pick their seat will do just that. I strongly believe in providing a welcoming and comforting classroom environment, and having these materials will only make our class that much better!
