Snap circuits and paper circuits are a hands on activity for 4th & 5th grade with a curricular tie to their science standard. Students will use these tools to learn about conductivity using copper and LED lights on paper and other flat objects. Another science tie-in will be gravity mazes where students can practice and better understand physics by using gravity to propel a ball from point A to point B
Artistic and cognitive thinking activities will give students an opportunity to express themselves creatively often using utilitarian tools such as duct tape to create objects that are beautiful but useful like sculptures and purses. Perler beads will be used to create designs using geometric shapes and 3D doodle pens are a cheaper alternative to 3D printers that allow students to work with heated plastic that quickly cools. Students will design and then produce an object in midair.
All of these supplies will provide our students with tools to try new ideas and have hands on projects. Through trial and error experimentation they will gain confidence in their ability to solve problems in the world around them and in everyday life.
