My students need a variety of both fiction and nonfiction books for our classroom library that appeal to their differing reading levels and interests. My teachers instilled in me a love of reading and a curiosity to learn more; I want to do the same for my students. I am hoping that by growing our classroom library, the books I have requested will give students exposure to award-winning titles that will open their minds to new ideas, allow to them "experience" life through someone else's eyes, reinforce the academic content being taught, provide them with a variety of choices to practice their reading and writing skills, and will enhance their understanding of topics of their choosing. Even the most reluctant reader's interest may be piqued by a new book on our shelf, their eyes opened to new possibilities. "Whenever you read a good book, somewhere in the world a door opens to allow in more light" ~ Vera Nazarian.
