As I'm sure you are aware, this is going to be a very different school year for all of our students. As a K-12 educator, I have only one classroom, and I'm deeply concerned about the safety of my students. Every day, 150 different students move through my classroom doors. I hope to provide each student with a yoga mat and a personal kit of art supplies. We will spend our class time outside as much as possible, exploring our small-town community, drawing from nature, and our historic architecture to expand our art skills. These mats will allow my students to comfortably experience art outdoors by providing a clean, designated space that is all their own. If our school is closed again, the yoga mats can be used at home. There's an endless number of uses for these mats in my school community, not just for practicing yoga. Specials like PE, music, and library could use them for indoor or outdoor spacing or experiences, and they could also facilitate indoor and outdoor learning for their core or other academic classes.
