Guided reading is a researched based teaching strategy that takes "just right" leveled books and creates confident, engaged, and enthusiastic readers! Providing fiction and non-fiction leveled books that come in packs of 5-6 allows students to engage in the process of learning to read with a group of peers that are learning at a similar pace. This also allows the classroom teacher to differentiate the instruction so that every child is provided with the best learning environment and opportunities possible! The teacher will be using these books to guide young readers at a pace that is appropriate for them. It is most important that our class can call these books "our own" so that students can take them home with them each night to practice their reading with friends and family. Students will then return them the next day for another student to borrow.
