I am a teacher at a Title 1, low income high school in Texas. I teach three levels of Chemistry: inclusion Chemistry; PreAP Chemistry; and AP Chemistry. My students range from kids who desire to go to medical school to those who are just trying to get enough science credits to graduate. Teaching this diverse group at times is challenging. Each student comes to me with unique experiences that have shaped them into the type of learner they are today. Teaching this diverse group chemistry at times is challenging. Therefore, I use a hands on, lab based approach when teaching my students. I find that this helps my students understand difficult concepts and also helps them to develop a love for science.
