Our class will use this sensory table to enhance our conversational skills, counting & measuring skills and to perform science experiments. We will use water, sand, sensory beads, oobleck, rice, beans, shaving cream and other materials that can be manipulated. A sensory table is instrumental in an early childhood classroom because it easily ties into many aspects of the curriculum. A sensory table is important for developing fine motor skills, inspiring innovation and creativity and promoting teamwork between peers. In a world where kindergarten teachers are increasingly pressured to devote more time to more "academic" teaching and learning, it is important to make sure learning through play is not eradicated.
