To enhance an out of classroom field trip, I'm requesting 60 mini clipboards. Every year my students hike through Georgia's "Little Grand Canyon" or Providence Canyon in Lumpkin, Georgia. It's an exquisite geological treasure within our state that supports our Earth science content. Students are asked to obtain, evaluate and communicate how Earth's surface has formed and changed over time. What better way to support their understanding of our planet by hiking through a canyon themselves. While participating in this field activity students must complete a scavenger hunt of information. So, with their mini-clipboards they can become geologists themselves while making observations, answering questions and discovering more about the canyon.
