Throughout the school year, my students will be using the Chromebooks to do their Social Studies projects and on line exams. In our school, our students are required to do their exams online in Illuminateed, and we do not have enough computers. Students will be using the computers to do research and to study in sites i.e. Brainpop, Quizlet (vocabulary review and flashcards), Newsela (for reading comprehension in various reading levels), Icivics (civics units), Flocabulary (vocabulary in song and rap on various content areas). It is critical to give students the chance to use the time in class to do this, since 50% of my students do not have access to computers and or internet in their homes. This year, students will be working in small groups in learning stations, and they will be using computers to do small group work as well as researching on civics projects in class. Having a few computers dedicated to my classes as a resource for all my students to do group work and research based projects would be wonderful. Currently, we do not have that available, since we have 20 computers to be shared by 8 teachers, with each teacher instructing 4 different classes.
