I am privileged to work at the only all-girls public middle school and high school in San Antonio. Our Title 1 school focuses on preparing young women for college, and we have had wonderful success in helping students develop the skills to excel in Tier I universities. I teach all of the biological sciences to the high school students enrolled in our school, and despite the challenge, I love to find creative ways to share complex ideas. In the photograph, you see two students using pool-noodle models of chromosomes to explain meiosis and crossing over. I am attempting to cultivate the advanced sciences, including AP/Dual credit biology and advanced biotechnology.
