Our students are having emotional meltdowns on a daily basis. Many of them turn to violence even though they are only 4-12 years old. We provide counseling in our district, but only for the worst case scenarios, and there are so many more children in need. I believe a "calming room" filled with soft, comforting, sensory items would be way more beneficial than a walk around our school to help them from exploding. Many of these kids run out of the classroom out of anger, anxiety, and just run the halls. I think if they had a comforting, soft place to go to, they wouldn't be so harmful to themselves, their teachers, and their peers.
