My school has been given a new curriculum that requires student research, without the technology needed to support the number of classes we currently have. Students will be able to use the Fire tablets during both small group leveled learning time and on group writing projects. They will have access to online non-fiction texts and academic websites that will provide accurate and safe information. In addition to using the Fire tablets for research, students will be able to take photos and videos of individual and group projects and assignments, and share them on their personal digital portfolios (on Class Dojo), which parents and administration will have access to. Parents, teachers, and administration will be able to give students immediate and personal feedback. Students will also be able to use the Fire tablets to access an online leveled library that is personalized with their independent reading level (some titles available in both English and their home language). They can both read and listen to these stories and take quizzes to track understanding.
