My students love the opportunity to be challanged by brain games and to be creative with opportunities that will help them to design and build with K'Nex and build circuits with Snaptricity. What better way, than to learn through play with a variety of hand on resources. Having tangrams puzzles will help with probkem solving, Sudoku will help with mathematical reasoning, Boggle will aid in strategically thinking about how words and letters are put together.
By giving my students a variety of resources, they can stretch their brains, they will continue to rise to every challenge they are provided. They will be excited to have new resources to help expand the possibilities in their minds with science and math. They will use these games on a daily basis in our classroom rotations.
In addition, the games of Mastermind, Suspend, and Rush Hour provide opportunities to build strategies and complex problem solving skills. They will be able to use these critical thinking skills and apply them to math and science standards. Providing students with opportunities to "think outside the box" will help them to be better lifelong learners.
