I have been doing an African art project with all grades. With limited supplies it has been hard to do this project as fully as I would like. We are learning about the culture, community, environments, and art. I am tying into their standard objectives for each grade level the students are loving it so far. I would love more supplies to make it a more memorable and enriching project. African inspired art has a treasure trove of potential projects that my students can do. Some examples of projects I am planning are Moroccan Doors, African Mudcloths, and African Masks. My first graders started some awesome underwater hippos yesterday that are looking awesome. There are so many directions to go with this and I would take the project longer than planned. The project also ties into black history month in February as well.
