I have researched mindfulness this past school year and am astounded at the results teaching mindfulness is making on students and schools around the world. I am particularly most excited about Mindful Kids because it provides 50 different activities for the students. My hope is to have "Mindful Mondays" at Morning Meeting and use these cards/activities. The requested books and items will be used on weekly broadcasts, morning meeting assemblies, in classroom social skills lessons, as well as in individual and group counseling sessions.
Teaching students to be mindful can make all the difference in their reactions to everyday challenges and issues. I will be able to use the Feeling Activity Kits to help students talk about what their body is feeling and what we can do using mindfulness to calm down. The Hoberman Sphere will be used to represent breathing in and out. The chimes will be used to focus on the sense of sound. The books will teach the students what mindfulness is and what they can do to be mindful on their age level. The picture is my classroom/office where I will be happily teaching my students about mindfulness. I look forward to taking and sharing pictures of my students putting into action everything I plan to teach them.
