The kids enjoy it when I play my ukulele for them and would love the opportunity to learn how to play as well. The ukulele is one of the more versatile classroom instruments because it can be used for playing melodies, chords, and rhythms. It's also an excellent tool for ensemble playing and accompanying voices. With ukuleles, my students will be able to perform, analyze, compose, improvise, and connect their musical knowledge to the real world. This project will impact the lives of all my students at EP. Having 30 ukuleles will be enough for every student that comes through my room to have an instrument to play. I chose the ukuleles from Kala's Waterman series, which are made from ABS composite plastic, because they are more durable than wood and will be easier to disinfect. They sound great too!
