Student: Why do we read? Teacher: We read (and write!) to find out who we are. In an attempt to begin a classroom library, I need some help. Many students claim that they don't like to read because it's boring, takes too long, they don't have a choice, and a billion other excuses. I want to change this mindset and get my students to become members of The Tribe That Reads. With discussion, guidance, and actual time to read, my goal is for students to not only become readers, but to find out who they really are with the help of books.
