Our library is a decently carpeted portable with nice bookshelves and furniture, except for the students' chairs. They are heavy and bulky. Sliding them is not possible because of the carpet and picking them up is very hard, even for our 6th graders and myself.
Having light-weight stools at the library would allow students to move them safely and easily to wherever they want to sit and read or work.
I also believe that in case of an emergency my students will be able to go under the tables without having to struggle with the heavy chairs, reducing the risks of them getting injured.
I want my students to be able to move freely in a safe in practical manner. At the same time, when the weather permits, stools could be easily taken outside for a "reading lunch," a poetry competition, a play or to simply sit and visit with their friends.
Being able to stack the stools would allow me to clean the carpet more often and provide my students with a cleaner place to visit and enjoy.
