At my school, we are trying to incorporate as many AVID strategies as possible. AVID is a college-prep program that teaches students skills to prepare for college. These items will allow students to take better notes, organize their ideas, and all around be successful. Each of the items that are being requested will have a huge impact on my students. Highlighters will allow students to identify the main point and vocabulary while reading. The Post-it notes will allow for students to write down questions or comments they have during class without interrupting others. This allows students to ask their question or discuss their comments without forgetting them. The organizers will hold Cornell notes, graphic organizers, and handouts which students will be able to access at all times in the classroom. Our class goes through many pencil sharpeners each year so I am always in need of new ones. Help these students become amazing and show them that college is an option for EVERYONE!
