There are several items which are both necessity and spice for my ELL classroom. Storytelling puppets would be beneficial to teach American Nursery Rhymes and Fables to my students. My hope is that with these hands on stories, the children will memorize and be able to repeat the stories to each other. We all grew up with American Nursery Rhymes and Fables, but when a student is new to our country, they are not aware of the stories we grew up with. And a cash register would help them learn the name of coins, as we role play small purchases.
My students love their chromebooks, but, unfortunately, I do not have headsets to provide a quiet learning environment. Therefore, we are not able to effectively use Chromebook while in the same classroom. The small rugs will provide small spaces in my room for partner work, while the transportation rug assists my ELL's in role playing about the city around them. The partitions will provide some personal space during assessments. The stapler and lamination will assist in the display of student items.
