These materials will allow my students to have hands-on learning experiences that will allow them to build, create and explore concepts not just memorize facts. The wooden blocks, Play-Doh, cubes, and the Brain Flakes Interlocking Plastic Disc Set will be used to build different buildings as part of our Engineering lessons. I am also requesting construction paper, tempera paints, and liquid droppers. The tweezers and magnifying glasses will let us explore, in the upcoming months, apples, pumpkins, and pine cones. Scholars will explore their five senses through investigation activities, and use the scientific method in the process. Giving kids these authentic learning experiences will allow them to understand the world around them as well as broaden their interests to fields and careers that are outside of their current demographics and cultural norms. Hands-on discovery provides a greater love for learning.
