We are a dual language classroom and our focus is fluency! Timers will help us time our bilingual pairs once a week to check for fluency. Our goal is to reach 110 words per minute. We use classroom computers for our online literacy resources. We have four students per group but only three class computers. Raz-kids is a great resource that assesses fluency, comprehension and vocabulary. Students earn stars that allow them to shop for avatars that keeps them engaged. Some of these students will never get a chance to have an iPad. Currently, we have one iPad that rotates around the grade level per week.
