My scholars too often come from outdated special education classrooms that do not support learners like them. Incorporating iPad's into our classroom will create many access points for different learners. Using the "NaturalReading" app will allow scholars who struggle with reading, to hear word problems while they read along; helping strengthen word problem skills. Using interactive games will address my scholars struggle to retain foundation math skills , without the strain of standard repetition. While we have access to Ipad's , we lose several a year due to lack of proper protection for our devices. Allowing scholars access to different areas to work , will help address the attention and motor skill needs of each individual. Sitting at a desk may prove to be difficult for scholars who feel more comfortable rocking back and forth in their seat , a dangerous habit in our current chairs. Having a rug and floor chairs can create comfortable and less intimidating small group instruction. With the goal of incorporating more technology , we will use more videos , interactive games, and power-points , which will require a speaker to clearly project sound during the lesson. It is my goal to create a safe , interactive classroom , that inspire my students to dive deeply into the world of math. As incoming 6th graders, my classroom will set the precedent for their math experience and I strive to make it an exhilarating one.
