Our students deserve a safe and clean happy place to read, think, and play games that challenge their minds. Every student should be able to walk in to a library that is as clean as at was for the first person that came in much like Disney World. Game play is proven to strengthen the mind and restore the soul. Minds need to be challenged with play in order for students to succeed. Students are constantly faced with tasks that overwhelm them. Games in a clean environment allowl them to feel free to challenge one another in a safe way while building social and mental skills. Through strategy games, students explore solutions to problems and interpersonal skills. They make plans of attack and follow through. They learn from their mistakes, regroup, and try again. Learning from failure is a skill many students lack, so games reinforce the idea that you can learn from what you have done wrong and still come back and win. The games I have chosen are all designed to get the students thinking and developing strategies to win, such as Chess, Scrabble, and Brain Games. As for the vacuum, the more students you have, the more mess you have. We would like to be able to clean up through out the day without bothering custodial staff. Each student deserves their environment to be as clean as it was for the first student that walked into the library. Games also provide fun social interactions. This allows students from all walks of life to interact with games that they love thus finding common interests.
