The students in my Learning Center are taking this class because they have a learning disability and they need extra support to get their foundational skills on a level high enough so that they can access the general education curriculum and eventually graduate with their diplomas.
This class requires A LOT of differentiation in order for it to be useful to my students! This makes the materials we use in class quite "boring"- tons of different printed worksheets at their level, working in their notebooks, and groupings with the same peers they are used to being with in their other classes.
With the materials I requested, I can make learning in this class a bit more fun for my students. The request ranges from a giant bean bag chair I will let students use for independent reading, to a Chromebook where I can have students check their grades or work on higher-level math skills, to simple supplies like math dice and posters so that I can make math more fun than just a worksheet every day.
Please help me show my students that having a learning disability does not mean that school is not fun for them!
