Hello! My name is Mrs. Reams and I am passionate about the importance of teaching music. Studying music is proven to improve cognition, contribute to academic achievement, and elevate standardized test scores. However, its benefits go far beyond having a positive effect on the brain. Those who experience music develop 21st century skills such as collaboration, communication, and perseverance. Furthermore, studying music provides an outlet for creativity and self-expression. In our music classroom, we embrace and appreciate diversity. Students are exposed to many forms of music and learn about the role music plays in cultures around the world. My hope is that in the process, students realize that a life enriched by music is a common thread in us all.
