Recently, my students have become interested in the world and information about it. We have a huge wall map and a world rug that they are constantly in conversation about. They have done a project researching countries and learning about the history of them. These books will be a great resource for them to connect with characters and how they respond to other cultures/places. My goal is to expose students to our world through literature. Learning from perspectives of other countries/cultures is an approach to students being able to have empathy for others.
