Envision if you will, a small tight room, that has old computers and wires on shelves. Old encyclopedias and out dated resources that haven't been touched in years, sitting and collecting dust. In the background, you might hear a copier running or a paper cutter slicing through thick paper. Now, image students trying to learn in that space. Can you image them sitting on the floor and sometimes, some of them using stools or mismatched chairs as tables? Well, it is my everyday reality. I need your help! I need beanbag seats and soft seats and flexible lapboard/tables for my students. I am a special education teacher who pushes into classrooms, but I also pull students out of the classroom to work in small groups setting. As with all schools, space is always limited. Our building is no exception. My "classroom" is very narrow and confining. I have chairs but with the chairs in my room there is no space for desks, let alone, enough room for my students to have a flat surface to write or place their materials on. I have nowhere for them to sit and work, and the hallway is not a conducive place for my high needs students to learn. They are very easily distracted. With your help I can take the hard mismatched chairs out and make it a colorful, comfortable, space of our own.
