One of the struggles I encounter in my classroom is student engagement. The students I teach are inner city youth and education is not a priority in most of the homes. Most of the students are deprived of running water, food, and a safe living environment. The campus funds are limited so technology is sometimes inaccessible. The clickers will allow students to receive immediate feedback during classroom instruction. I can check for understanding through the use of the clickers. Games are used to review concepts and the "Me First" will allow me to determine which student should get to respond to the question first. The students love to do their math work on the white boards. The whiteboards can be used as a tool to check for understanding without putting a student on the spot. The items I chose will allow my students more opportunities to be engaged during instruction. Research has proven that as student engagement increases student academic achievement will increase!
